FirstMate pet food is a limited-ingredient line built around a short protein list, and at Ashario Pets the current FirstMate selection centres on grain-free LID cat recipes plus FirstMate cat treats. If you searched for FirstMate and landed here, this page is the shortlist: two core proteins, two bag sizes, and a treat option.

What does FirstMate's limited-ingredient (LID) approach mean?

A limited-ingredient diet keeps the recipe short so it is easier to identify what your cat does and does not do well with. FirstMate's grain-free LID cat formulas pair a single named animal protein with blueberry, which makes them a reasonable starting point for owners working through food sensitivities with their veterinarian.

  • Ocean Fish & Blueberry — a fish-forward option for cats who prefer seafood flavours.
  • Chicken & Blueberry — a poultry option, useful if you are rotating away from fish.
  • FirstMate cat treats — a 3 oz indulgent duck treat, handy for a third protein when you are testing tolerance.

Which bag size should you buy?

Both core recipes come in 1.8 kg and 4.54 kg. Choose the 1.8 kg bag when you are introducing a new protein to a single cat, or when you want the bag finished before it loses freshness. Step up to the 4.54 kg bag for multi-cat households or once a formula has proven itself over several weeks.

If fish is the preferred flavour, start with FirstMate Grain Free LID Ocean Fish & Blueberry in 1.8 kg, then move to the 4.54 kg Ocean Fish & Blueberry bag once you know it suits your cat. For poultry households, FirstMate Grain Free LID Chicken & Blueberry, 4.54 kg covers the same ground.
