PetSafe - Viva Pet Water Fountain

TL;DR: The PetSafe Viva Pet Water Fountain is a filtered, continuously circulating water fountain for dogs and cats. It suits dog owners who want to encourage more frequent drinking at home and support urinary health through steady hydration.

Many dogs walk past a still bowl and end up drinking less than they should. The viva pet fountain keeps water moving through a replaceable carbon filter, which makes it more appealing and helps the water taste fresher between cleanings.

Why choose a flowing water fountain?

Moving water tends to attract pets more than standing water, and consistent daily intake is one of the simplest ways to support urinary function. The carbon filter helps reduce impurities, so each drink tastes cleaner than water that has been sitting in an open bowl.

If this is your first fountain, the PetSafe Viva pet water fountain is a straightforward choice built around steady, filtered flow rather than extra features you may not use.

Who is it for?

The PetSafe Viva pet indoor water fountain is a good match for dogs who ignore their bowl or need encouragement to drink between meals and walks. It also works in multi-pet homes where cats share the same water station.

Owners focused on urinary health often start here, since reliable daily hydration is one of the most practical ways to support the urinary tract.

Feeding & use

Place the fountain on a flat, level surface away from food bowls, fill the reservoir with clean tap or filtered water, and plug in the pump. Top up the reservoir before it runs low so the pump always stays submerged.

Replace the carbon filter on a regular schedule and wash the fountain components at each filter change to keep the water tasting fresh. If flow slows or the fountain stops running, unplug it, remove debris from the pump, and rinse the impeller before reassembling — buildup around the pump is the most common cause of reduced flow.

How does it compare to other PetSafe fountains?

The PetSafe - Outlast Pet Water Fountain Without Pump is a gravity-style alternative that runs without electricity, while the PetSafe - Stainless Steel 360 Dog Water Fountain offers multiple drinking spouts for households with several pets. For walks and travel days, the Dexypaws - Crossbody Bag gives you a hands-free way to carry water and essentials.

The Viva remains one of our most-requested picks for everyday hydration support across the GTA.
