Ashario Pets - Collar

Pet collars fall into three practical groups: breakaway collars for cats, adjustable nylon collars for everyday dog walking, and training collars for structured obedience work. This collection carries 16 options across those groups, all under the Ashario Pets label, ranging from $2.83 to $27.10 CAD. Sizes run from extra small to large, so most cats and dogs are covered.

Which collar is right for a cat?

For cats, look for a breakaway buckle. It releases under pressure if the collar snags on a fence, branch or furniture, which is why breakaway is the standard recommendation for cats with outdoor or balcony access.

The reflective breakaway cat collar in small suits kittens and slim adult cats, while the large reflective breakaway cat collar fits bigger or longer-haired cats. Reflective stitching helps with visibility during early-morning and evening hours, which matters in a dense area like North York. Fit test: two fingers should slide comfortably between the collar and your cat's neck.

How do dog collar styles differ?

Adjustable nylon collars

These are the everyday choice — lightweight, washable, and easy to size up as a puppy grows. They come in extra small, small, medium and large, with reflective detailing for night walks. Best for dogs who already walk politely on leash and need a simple place to hang ID tags.

Training collars

Prong and chain styles in this collection — including the stainless steel prong training collar, the quick-release adjustable prong collar with buckle in black or grey, and the outdoor training chain collar — are intended for structured obedience sessions, not all-day wear. The quick-release buckle versions are easier to put on and take off between sessions. If you are new to these tools, work with a qualified trainer on fit and technique first.

Sizing and buying notes

• Measure your pet's neck with a soft tape, then add roughly two finger widths before choosing a size.
• Growing puppies and kittens need a re-check every few weeks.
• Keep a second collar on hand if your pet swims or rolls in mud regularly.
• Reflective trim is worth prioritizing for any pet walked before sunrise or after dark.
