Fromm

The "Fromm purple bag" most shoppers ask for is from the Fromm Gold line, the brand's everyday dry food range for dogs and cats. Our Fromm collection carries 32 items across the Gold and Four Star Nutritionals lines, from $22.99 to $89.95 CAD, covering puppy, kitten, adult and senior life stages.

Which Fromm dog food should I choose?

Start with life stage and body size, then narrow by recipe. Fromm's Gold line is organized that way, so the decision is usually straightforward.

  • Growing dogs: Fromm Gold Puppy dry dog food is formulated for puppies before they transition to an adult recipe.
  • Small breeds: Fromm Gold Small Breed Adult uses a smaller kibble size suited to little jaws, and it is the best-seller in this collection.
  • Adult maintenance: Fromm Gold Adult is the general-purpose choice for healthy adult dogs.
  • Older or less active dogs: Fromm Gold Reduced Activity & Senior is built for dogs whose energy needs have dropped.

Gold or Four Star Nutritionals?

Gold is the line to pick when you want one consistent recipe matched to your dog's stage and size. Four Star Nutritionals is the rotational line, with distinct recipes such as Beef Frittata Veg and Chicken A La Veg that can be alternated for dogs who do well with variety.

If your dog has never rotated proteins before, introduce the new recipe gradually and watch stool quality over the first week. Dogs with diagnosed conditions should be switched only on your veterinarian's advice.

What about Fromm cat food?

The cat side follows the same logic. Fromm Gold Kitten suits growing cats, Fromm Gold Adult covers general maintenance, and Fromm Gold Indoor Hairball Control is aimed at indoor cats who groom heavily. For a fish-and-meat recipe, Four Star Nutritionals Surf & Turf dry cat food is the most popular Fromm cat option here.

Buying Fromm in Canada

Bag sizes matter as much as recipe. Smaller bags are practical for trialling a new formula or for single small-breed dogs and cats, while larger bags lower the cost per feeding for multi-pet homes. All Fromm here ships Canada-wide, with same-day pickup available at our North York store.
