Raw Performance

Raw Performance is a Canadian raw dog food maker based in Niagara, Ontario, producing frozen raw meals from locally sourced ingredients from Ontario farms and wild-caught salmon from British Columbia. The recipes are made without preservatives or fillers, and the company has been producing them since 2012. This collection carries 42 Raw Performance items, ranging from $3.57 to $44.07 CAD depending on protein and format.

What are the differences between the Raw Performance recipes?

The line splits into three naming families, which makes choosing straightforward once you know how to read the labels.

• Pure recipes are named for a single protein — Pure Beef, Pure Salmon, Pure Duck, Pure Rabbit and Pure Turkey. Useful if you are feeding one protein at a time or rotating proteins deliberately.
• Gourmet recipes come in beef, turkey, chicken and lamb. Gourmet Beef is the best-selling item in this collection.
• Performance Blend is offered in 1 lb, 2 lb and 4 lb sizes, so you can match pack size to how much freezer space you have and how quickly your dog works through a batch.

Which Raw Performance dog food should you start with?

If your dog has never eaten raw, a common approach is to begin with one widely fed protein such as beef or turkey, then expand once you know how your dog handles it. Beef and turkey are the two proteins available in both the Pure and Gourmet families, which makes switching between formats simple.

Households already rotating proteins often reach for the less common options — duck, rabbit and lamb — to keep variety in the bowl. If you prefer a fish-based option, Pure Salmon uses wild-caught BC salmon. Talk to your veterinarian before changing your dog's diet, especially for puppies, seniors, or dogs with existing health considerations.

How much freezer space do you need?

Raw food ships and stores frozen, so buy in a size you can actually store. Smaller formats suit small dogs, first-time trials, and anyone with a single freezer drawer; larger packs make more sense for multi-dog homes or big breeds with a settled routine. Thaw in the refrigerator and handle raw meat with the same kitchen hygiene you would use for your own food.
