Bergamo - Gipsy Eco Metal Door Carrier For Large Pets

TL;DR: The Bergamo - Gipsy Eco Metal Door Carrier For Large Pets is an Italian-made rigid transport crate measuring approximately 58 × 38 × 38 cm, built for larger dogs and cats. It combines a metal front door with a ventilated non-toxic plastic shell, side latches, and a top carry handle — suited to owners who need a hard-sided carrier for vet visits, car travel, and at-home containment.

The hard shell and metal door give this Bergamo cat crate a firm, predictable closure rather than the zippers and mesh of a soft-sided bag. Ventilation slots run around the body to keep airflow steady on longer journeys.

Who is it for?

This carrier suits owners of larger dogs or cats who want a rigid, well-ventilated crate for car rides, vet appointments, or short-term containment at home. It's a practical choice if you prefer a hard shell and metal latch over fabric and zippers.

Choose from Green, Ice Blue, or Lilac — all three share identical dimensions, materials, and hardware, so colour is purely a matter of matching your home or existing gear.

What if my pet is smaller?

For smaller dogs and cats, the Bergamo - Gipsy Eco Metal Door Carrier For Small Pets offers the same design in a compact size. If you'd rather have something lighter for short walks or cabin travel, the Ashario Pets - Ultra Comfort Portable Pet Travel Carrier Bag is a soft-sided alternative.

Feeding & use

Before the first trip, leave the carrier open at home with a familiar blanket or toy inside so your pet can explore it at their own pace. Short, low-pressure sessions make the first real journey easier.

For car travel, place the carrier on the back seat or footwell and secure it with a seatbelt threaded through or around the handle so it can't slide during braking. Confirm the metal door is fully latched and both side clips are engaged before lifting.

Between trips, wipe the interior with mild soap and water and let it dry fully. An absorbent pad at the base helps on longer drives.

Many owners build a small travel kit around the crate — Buddycare - Antiseptic Eye Drops For Pets is a common addition for routine post-trip care. Whether you're replacing an older crate or shopping for pet supplies online for the first time, this Bergamo cat crate is a straightforward rigid-shell option for larger pets.
