Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, and festivities. Your pets, being an essential part of the family, deserve to join in on the fun too. At Ashario Pets Store, we strive to provide the highest quality of pet wellness care and encourage our customers to include their pets in holiday celebrations as well. In this blog post, we will explore how to prepare for and celebrate Thanksgiving with your furry companion, keeping their well-being in mind.
Pet-Friendly Feasting
Preparing a separate, pet-friendly meal for your animal friend is a loving gesture they will undoubtedly appreciate. Remember to avoid toxic ingredients such as onions, grapes, and chocolate. Instead, opt for pet-safe dishes like cooked pumpkin, mashed sweet potatoes, and plain boneless turkey bites. Don't forget about our extended operating hours at our North York, Ontario store (9:00 AM to 11:00 PM) for picking up any last-minute pet-friendly treats or Thanksgiving toys!
No Leftovers Allowed
It might be tempting to let your pets indulge in the leftovers from the holiday feast. However, it is essential to avoid feeding them heavily salted or spiced foods that can upset their stomachs or even cause severe health issues. Stick with the pet-friendly dishes mentioned above and leave the human food for the humans.
Create a Safe Space
Thanksgiving can be overwhelming for pets, especially with numerous guests visiting your home. Designate a quiet room or corner specifically for your pet, complete with their bed, favorite toys, and water. This will provide them with a peaceful retreat when they need a break from the festivities.
Hiking and Other Pet-Friendly Activities
Why not start a new Thanksgiving tradition that involves your pet? Consider taking your pet on a hike, hosting a pet-friendly backyard gathering, or visiting a dog park. This enables both you and your pet to enjoy quality time together while staying active amidst the holiday indulgence.
